The European Poker Tour (EPT) is a series of poker tournaments taking place exclusively in Europe. It was created by the winner of the Poker Million tournament, John Duthie in 2004 in response to the explosion of Texas Hold'em.

Around the European Poker Tour

The tournament sponsor for PokerStars is one of the largest poker sites online at present, which shows its importance and recognition of poker. The EPT also sponsor TV channels.

In addition, the tournament is broadcast by a large number of TV channels across Europe. This broadcast to several major TV tournament provides greater visibility or the tournament and very good media coverage.

Tournament information

The European Poker Tour is considered to be the equivalent of the World Poker Tour at a European level. Three European cities (London, Barcelona, Dublin) play an important role in the organization of the European poker tournament, as they host a round of the tournament for each edition.

This tournament is organized in 11 stages over four days: Barcelona, London, Baden (Austria), Dublin, Prague, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (an exotic detour to the Bahamas), Dortmund, Copenhagen, San Remo, Warsaw and Monte Carlo.

epttableThis tournament is open to everyone, amateurs and professional poker players. It is observed that the majority of people involved qualified via the Internet and the PokerStars website. For $ 5.50, players can participate in satellite tournaments to win a prize package worth $ 20,000.

The other way to participate in the European Poker Tour is to pay the buy-in tournament which interests you.

EPT, as the WSOP, is divided into two parts: the Main Event and side events. Main Event, players play No Limit Texas Hold'em and start with 30,000 in chips, levels games are 60 minutes the first day and 75 minutes during the rest of the tournament. The buy-in Main Events can range from $ 8 to $ 15000.

Additional tournaments take place every day and play Super, Turbo - Ladies, No Limit Hold'em, Pot Limit Omaha, 8-Game, Heads-up, Freerolls, High Roller, High Roller Turbo, 2-7 - Badugi Studs, Draw and Limit Hold'em. Enough to satisfy all players, all the passions with all its possible variants and interesting gains associated.

Attendance at the European Poker Tour

Because of its extensive media coverage and generous endowments, the European Poker Tour has a significant attendance even though he has not been around very long. With over 9000 participants for Main Events of the season 6 EPT is therefore better than the WPT.

This increased participation, the EFA is mainly sponsors and especially PokerStars provide an opportunity for many of these players to qualify for this exceptional tournament and offers at the same time an important and frequent communication space to EFA.

With a first prize of more than million US dollars, EFA attracts players from around the world, not just Europe. Thus, U.S. players are those who have won the most rounds of the tournament (11 winners in the first six seasons) since it was created. The English are placed behind (with 10 winners) and precede Germany, France and Sweden (who are tied with five winners each).

The record attendance at this tournament even gave ideas to other organizers of tournament poker. So the Austrian European Poker Championship who initially played Seven Card Stud, now sees its potential Europameister compete in No Limit Texas Hold'em. The novelty in the championship is surely the most obvious evidence of the success of this European Poker Tour.
